Owners Stable was the vision of Thomas Thompson in 2001. A lifelong racing fan, Thompson always wanted to own race horses and share his passion with others. He saw that, while there were many racing partnerships available to people, few offered the affordability that would make them accessible to most everyday racing fans. He envisioned a stable where partners had open communication with other partners, as well as those making the racing decisions. 

 
He launched Owners Stable in September 2001 and they quickly claimed their first horse, Fly to the Lake for $40,000. Since then, Owners Stable has assembled more than 40 racing, claiming and breeding partnerships, and brought more than 200 race fans closer to the sport than they ever could have imagine. Within four years, Owners Stable had broken the $1 million dollar mark in earnings claiming horses like Siren Lure, who would go on to become a Grade 1 winner, Aclevershadeofjade, who earned more than $190,000  and Gold Rush Day Stakes winner Proudest Moment, who has earned over $115,000.

 
Thomas believed that Owners Stable would bring racing fans together at the farm, track and online and he organized frequent trips to the track to meet the trainers and see the horses up close. On Owners Stable’s Web site, he included a partners forum where partners could connect to discuss racing and share photos.

 
Through Tom’s leadership, Owners Stable became more than a racing partnership. He created a racing family where each partner, regardless of how much of a financial investment they had in the horse, felt as if they were a majority owner. More than 60 Winner’s Circle photos hang in the offices of Owners Stable today to illustrate the success that Thomas had selecting horses for partnerships and bringing passionate race fans together to achieve the goals of Owners Stable.

 
When Thomas passed away in January 2007, more than 400 friends, family and members of the racing community attended the funeral. Although Thomas is no longer with Owners Stable, his dream lives on as the stable continues to form new partnerships and make it’s presence felt on racetracks in Northern and Southern California, Washington and Texas. Owners Stable will always remain a vibrant community of racing fans who have experienced the thrill of horse ownership because of Thomas’ vision.
